Does the sand filter use real sand?

No - instead of sand, it uses cotton filter balls. We provide a bag with your filter, and you just insert them into the tank. They’re lighter, easier to handle, and just as effective at keeping your water clean.

How do I know when to clean the filter?

Check the pressure gauge. When it’s about 8–10 PSI higher than normal, it’s time to run a backwash to clean the filter balls.

How do I use the filter day to day?

Keep the valve set to FILTER for normal use. When pressure goes up, switch to BACKWASH for a few minutes, then to RINSE for 30–60 seconds, and back to FILTER again.

What should I know about hot tub maintenance and safety?

  • Safety first: Always disconnect all power sources before cleaning or servicing any electrical features (bubble jets, lights, etc.).
  • Maintenance: Follow the care steps in your manual to keep your tub looking great and working smoothly for years.

How do I clean the stove glass window?

Soot on the glass is normal and easy to remove:

  • Dampen a cloth, dip it in white ash from the stove, and gently rub the glass.
  • Wipe clean and dry.
  • You can use stove glass cleaner as well.

How do I care for the wood-fired heater?

After use: Always empty the ash and avoid leaving water in the heater during freezing temperatures.

Cleaning: Clean the chimney every 15–20 uses, especially if burning softwood. Wipe stove glass only when cool. Remove debris from the housing and clean the chimney cap’s mesh screen if equipped.

How do I maintain the exterior wood cladding?

Volkstub tubs are cladded in ThermoWood, which is beautiful and durable with a little care:

  • Oil the wood with UV-protectant exterior wood oil at least once a year to maintain its tone.
  • If the wood turns silver-grey, that is a normal effect of sun and rain—this does not affect quality.
  • For best results, lightly sand before oiling.

What’s the best spot for my hot tub?

  • Outdoors only: Pick a permanent, outdoor spot away from fire hazards and ensure good water drainage.
  • Shelter helps: Sheltered locations protect against wind and weather, making heating easier.
  • Keep it accessible: Leave room for cleaning and maintenance. Avoid placing near trees for less debris.
